The crying has not stopped…

The crying and whining continues over Trump winning the election. And now Jill Stein has filed paperwork to perform a recount in the state of Wisconsin! Stein did not even come close to winning the 2016 election. But she has reportedly raised some $7 million+ to fund recounts in the states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. The question is who keeps the money if no recounts take place anywhere but Wisconsin? She has reportedly already missed one state’s deadline for filing for and paying for a recount. My guess is that Jill Stein will keep the money. Just conjecture… but perhaps it will be used to fund another run at the Presidency in 2020.

She has raided more money for the recounts than she did for her own campaign. Reportedly she wants Wisconsin to count the votes by HAND! Wisconsin has said no to hand counting the recount.

jill-stein-wi-fi-smalljpgStein admits that a recount won’t change the outcome of the election but she apparently is “concerned” with possible hacking of the electronic voting machines used in those states.

On another front, Hillary supporters appear to be outraged that Hillary seemingly won the popular vote but lost the election due to a little thing called the Electoral College. Most of Hillary’s camp seemed surprised to find about this “college” who actually elects the President. They were thinking they did. NOOOO – you are voting for electors who in turn will cast their votes to elect the President. 270 Electoral College delegates are needed to win the election.

True that the Electoral College electors do not have to vote for the person they are bound to by the popular vote but that usually does not happen.

The Electoral College was put in place by our founding fathers to ensure densely populated states did not rule squeeze out the sparsely populated states. And to ensure that we would be able to say no to tyrant or dictator type.

Graduates of high school (where civics used to be taught) are woefully unprepared to understand the concept of the Electoral College as this election is likely their first introduction to it though the same thing happened in the Bush v. Gore race of 2000.

So let’s review this election:

The following list of statistics has been making the rounds on the Internet and it should finally put an end to the argument as to why the Electoral College makes sense.

Share this with as many whiners as you can.

There are 3,141 counties in the United States.

Trump won 3,084 of them.
Clinton won 57.

There are 62 counties in New York State.

Trump won 46 of them.
Clinton won 16.

Clinton won the popular vote by approx. 1.5 million votes.

In the 5 counties that encompass NYC, (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Richmond & Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump. (Clinton only won 4 of these counties; Trump won Richmond)

Therefore these 5 counties alone, more than accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote of the entire country.

These 5 counties comprise 319 square miles.
The United States is comprised of 3, 797,000 square miles.

When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of those who inhabit a mere 319 square miles should dictate the outcome of a national election.

Large, densely populated Democrat cities (NYC, Chicago, LA, etc) don’t and shouldn’t speak for the rest of our country.
